166/3.8 Retake or keep it?

I just took the LSAT for the first time in February and got a 166. (3.85 GPA)
I'm happy with this for the most part, my last 3 official PTs were a 166, 167 and a 170. (Though I am pretty sure that Kaplan's last PT is easy on purpose to make everyone feel confident for the test)
I'm applying this coming fall to NYU, Fordham, Cardozo, Penn, Temple, GW and Georgetown.
I really want to go to school in NYC... Fordham's my target, NYU's my reach.
Should I retake in June?
Thanks!!

depends how much you want NYU. You'll get Fordham for sure.

You're looking at probably getting shut out at the t14, but in at almost all of the t30s (most of which you'll get money from). Just depends if that is good enough for you. Fwiw I was in the exact same situation, and after getting a full ride at Washington and lee decided that was good enough for me.

i want NYU.. pretty bad. Would it be plausible to apply with a 166? My GPA's higher than their range, but i'd still be 2 points below LSAT wise...

You can certainly apply, but I really don't see you getting in unless you have some absolutely amazing (like you cured cancer) type soft.

Fordham will probably give you a scholarship, if next year is anything like this year - However, NYU is nigh impossible with a 166. Even a 168 has a shot in comparison to a 166. Moreover, with your GPA, you'd be pretty much a lock at NYU with a 171/172. Given your PT range, I recommend retaking in June after some more practice. Why settle for FU when you have two more LSAT administrations to retake and still apply early in the cycle? The first time taking the LSAT is almost always the worst!
