So I am trying to decide if and when I should ED to UVA. I applied Regular Decision in late October and have heard nothing. My SO just got in so we are trying to decide if UVA would be a good fit for us. I just don't want to get wait-listed in the next couple weeks while I am deciding. You can't change to Early Decision once wait-listed correct?

so question is what is my chance of getting WL soon 172, 3.54 very few softs ( No Why UVA essay)
and how long do I have to decide to ED
What are my chances with ED

You'd be a lock through ED, I'd think.

However, why limit your options when you don't have to? You have good enough numbers to get in RD at UVA, Michigan, Penn, and also to have an outside shot at CCN.

UVA's going to play chicken with you on the ED. I would send a Why UVA essay soon and hold off until their app deadline passes and they can't fill more seats with ED candidates.

In ED for sure I would think....

If your SO is heading to UVA, I see no reason not to lock it in through ED. The only better options you can get are maybe NYU or another T10 with small money.

I was accepted within 24 hours ED with a 3.51/173.

I would think your chances are above 90% that you would be accepted, especially if you email them and tell them your SO will more than likely be attending if you get accepted.

Out of state, with no Why UVA, and no acceptance as of yet I think you are most likely headed for a WL without the ED.
