So I successfully solicited a waiver, but it expires on Dec. 15th. I plan on applying way before then, but still seems strange to me.

They've done this for a long time now. Anyone can request a waiver via the form, and they expire in Dec. Not sure if they grant any at all in the new year

Also visiting Chicago for the first time and I absolutely love it. I was skeptical because of the cold - I'm from the South and school in the mid-Atlantic almost froze me to death - but three years isn't that long. Really looking much harder at NU now.

I'm from Chicago and I can verify it is much less worse than everyone seems to think.

I agree with you on that point, however I am merely saying that someone who does not enjoy cold weather might have a markedly different view of Chicago in September than in February.

Last winter was great, though! But that was definitely an anomaly...
