Checking in. Who's going to ASD on 3/4? Kalvano, how does SMU make it a point to keep Sumners in the top 10%? What sort of special treatment do they get? Just curious.

I can't speak to what they do to keep the Sumners in the top (though I have heard that from multiple people), but I do know it's a lot more than a scholarship. They have private meetings and networking events with major Dallas figures, visiting professors/judges/celebs, law firms, etc, they get hooked up with internships in DC if they want them, they get calls made to get them clerkships or summer associate positions, etc. It's a sweet gig if you can get it (and meet the stip).

So is this the Sumner's foundation with these connections, or SMU Dedman? Will SMU not make these hookups for its students? I can't imagine someone who's at the top 10% of the class who is not a Sumners being denied these opportunities.

It's been awhile since I have been active on here, but I got my official acceptance at the end of December right before Christmas. Non-URM, 3.35, 170. Got $24K. I was also in at UT and UH, but considering the money and my penchance for Dallas, I think SMU is the place for me. Now to find affordable living arrangements for a poor law student Highland Park.

I was admitted today, applied 1/15. I haven't received an email notification yet but the LSAC tracker does say admitted as of this morning, so hopefully I'll get scholarship information shortly.

I went to SMU for grad school and I lived in the Village. It's a giant apartment complex just a few minutes from campus and it has about 15 different complexes within it that all offer different sizes and prices of apartments. I would recommend checking it out. It's very affordable, especially if you find a roommate to share with.

Congrats man! I would have applied to SMU if I hadn't gone there for grad school and got tired of living in Dallas. It's a great school, and an absolutely beautiful campus if that is important to you.

Idk for sure, but I checked all my apps regularly, and mine went from complete to decision, whereas at other schools my file was in review before a decision. My SMU app was still showing file complete in the morning on the day I was admitted, and when I checked in the afternoon it said decision rendered: admitted. It might be different for some, but don't assume that they aren't reviewing your file because they don't update the status.

Friend had their scholarship info appear on their status checker about a week after getting the phone call. I was admitted yesterday afternoon and nothing so far though.

I believe it had the 1/21 in the complete date field and status was blank (where it now says admitted). It may have said up top that it was in review but I'm not sure.

My status checker reflected the scholarship as soon as the status was changed to admitted, but I applied early decision so maybe it's a different process for regular decision admits. I did have a page in my admissions packet listing the scholly info, which I received just a couple days after the status checker updated, so maybe keep an eye on the mail.

This wait is killing me. I went complete on 1/6. Seeing all these acceptances is making me anxious!
