Depending on when you start, there may not be a CFPB at all.

This is not likely to happen. To over-simplify, the courts have ruled that CFPB's structure is unconstitutional but that its structural scheme in the statutes is severable from the remainder of CFPB's existence. The structure is unconstitutional but the existence is constitutional.

If you're applying to the CFPB, you may as well get caught up by reading and analyzing all of this stuff. It's straight outta Con Law 1.
