Public Defender Applications - 2022

Starting a thread for this year in case there are any other future PDs hanging out here.

Has anyone heard back from EJW? Or otherwise doing second round interviews?

Nothing from EJW but not expecting anything yet since it just wrapped up. PDS is doing second round interviews now.

Anybody have any NYCDS intel? They seem to have rebranded recently as a more mission-driven office.

Had a pre-EJW screener with BxD and haven't heard anything since. Haven't heard anything from NYCDS since talking to them at EJW either.

Re PDS, I haven't heard anything about numbers but the 2nd round email said 3rd round invites would go out by the end of this week

PDS is my first choice, but after a terrible second round interview, I am not sure that is going to happen lol

Same, did a screener with BxD before EJW but no word on second round. I think they’re hiring a February start class so maybe their September interviews will be pushed back while those happen?

Lol I feel exactly the same. Excited to defend wherever I end up but hoping to know more about where that may be soon

Sorry to hear. Second round dings from PDS also went out, and I was among them. I know Colorado is moving and Maryland may be starting to, but otherwise it's been silent for me from EJW screeners. Have people heard from others like BxD/NYCDS/San Diego?

Not yet, but my understanding is that they send out an essay packet sometime after Thanksgiving.
