same question. I see that EDNY has had an open continuous posting since Dec 11; does that mean the hiring from the last round (for the posting end Sept 26) has closed?

SDNY has been interviewing, at least one hire from EDNY in the last week or so. EDNY extended a few offers before the shutdown.

Thank you. Any word on whether SDNY has extended offers since the holidays?

Oof. On USAJOBS, EDNY opened up a posting on December 11, 2025. It sounds like they really want Appellate / Asset Recovery AUSAs but they're also still looking for line assistants?

Anyone know what hiring timelines are typically in the SDNY? Interviewed with them in Dec (second round) and have heard crickets since then. Is it over fam?

Would love to spend 100 hours per week doing nothing but reviewing Epstein files.

If I receive a tentative offer and accept, will other districts that I’m interviewing with be aware of the acceptance?

I received a tentative offer from my second choice district. But I’m still waiting to hear back from the district that is my top choice. Given how much time has passed since the offer, I feel compelled to get back to them with an answer.

I’d like to accept the tentative offer but wait to see what happens with my top choice district. Assuming the second choice district is fully aware of this and is okay with it, will the top choice district get tipped off on the acceptance (such that it might confuse them about my candidacy with that district?)

To my knowledge this information isn’t automatically shared between USAOs or anything. Acceptance of a tentative offer would go to EOUSA/EARM for background check purposes, but I don’t think that’s going to trigger any affirmative disclosure back to other offices where you’ve applied.

That said, there’s nothing to stop anyone from your second choice district from talking to anyone they know at your first choice district. I don’t think anyone would do this to try to sabotage your chances or anything, just that people at USAOs often know people at other USAOs and talk about stuff that’s going on.

Your second choice district may have some concerns with your plan, though.

I assume this varies based on district, but how long should I expect to wait to hear if I got the job or not after interviewing with the US Attorney?

I was asked for references a few days after my interview with the front office, including the USA. Anyone able to read the tea leaves on this for me? If they contact my references, am I in the clear? (I don’t think anyone is even on this website anymore, but whatever.)

Er, for Main Justice, they just kept asking me for references, maybe because they were dissatisfied w/ what my refs had to say? I got an offer eventually, but ...

Do you mean they asked for a second set of references?

I feel like I’m shouting into the void here, but if my references were contacted after the second round interview with the USA, how optimistic should I be?

It’s a good sign, as you usually can’t hired without that step. But it’s not a guarantee and unless your references have been unavailable, I’d have sort of expected you to get an offer by now given the time that’s passed.

But maybe it’s because most offices I know are so desperate to get people on board, they’re fast-tracking everything, and maybe that office is just slower.

They may also be negotiating with a first choice and want you as backup.

That’s unfortunate. This process has been incredibly frustrating. I wasn’t even looking to apply until someone very senior in this office reached out to me about applying.

Ended up getting the call from the USA.

Anyone with any movement lately? Received TJO in December, have yet to even begin background screening. Consistently going roughly a month between communications with the office and OPM and wondering if this is expected or if something is up. Anyone gotten further than I have?

I am currently undergoing a transfer between offices, and it’s moving quickly. From what I understand, it’s extra slow for people coming in from outside the USAO. It seems standard to have a bit of a wait.
