Yeah sticker would be insane. I'll likely be withdrawing once I hear I'm not getting money, which seems like what is about to happen.

+1. Loved UVA when I visited, love the admissions team, but it just seems like UVA is more tight-fisted than my other options, when it comes to scholarships.

Yeah I guess it's part of their strategy on how to allocate money (smaller % of students, larger scholarships). I can't fault them for it, but it's frustrating how it can play out for you personally nonetheless.

Money is irrelevant. Now that I know that UVA "offers its students immediate access to hands-on training that complements traditional coursework", my bags are f*cking packed!

I RSVP'd for one and unless it didn't charge my card for some reason (I didn't specifically check), I had to pay.

The invitation I got for the local event where I am specifically mentioned the event being $10/person in the e-mail. I guess there's a possibility that this might be for alums and could be waived for admitted students who attend, but I am planning to have ten bones on me jic

I'm looking at housing options (coming from MW to VA hopefully). I want to be able to meet my fellow 1Ls but I hear alot of people live at Ivy Gardens. UVA's on campus graduate housing isn't bad AT ALL in terms of price. 770 for a one bedroom is a lot less than I expected. I want to live on campus and save money to live off campus next year. I plan on bringing my car too.

Has anyone used the "Connect with an Alum" option UVA has? It was included in the email yesterday and I think I've seen it on the website somewhere, but I wasn't sure what exactly it is (phone call, email exchange, connecting at alum event, etc.) and was wondering if anyone had any experience with it. I signed up and I imagine it will vary depending on the person and alumni availability to some degree, but I'm realizing I signed up for something and I don't exactly know what it is.

I was talking with someone in the Applicant thread who had received money and there's been a few instances over the past few weeks. But nothing major like the end of January wave. I'm really hoping for something to come through soon

I was accepted a little under two weeks ago and received an email late last week regarding financial aid, saying that the priority deadline for need-based financial aid consideration was this Friday..maybe that means that the bulk of financial aid/scholarships will start being determined/going out the end of the month? Grasping at straws here, though.

Yeah I submitted all my need-based aid forms earlier this week to comply with that deadline. I'm hoping that scholarships will be included as they surely can't have given everything away by now.

May I also add that I was a tad blown when I realized I had to pay a $28 processing fee for the Need Access

Seriously...I was like, "well I'm using this because I'm poor and need money. But you're making me pay money to apply for money."

UVA is one of my top choices because of its proximity to DC (personal reasons and also where I want to practice), but I don't think I could justify it at sticker when I've gotten 2/3s tuition at Cornell and 1/2-ish at Michigan.
