Top Law Schools

Does anyone know of a good apartment complex to live in at Thomas Jefferson School of Law? I want to be able to have convenience as well as the ability to meet other TJSL students.

DUDE. You will be living in San Diego. LIVE AT THE BEACH. for $1100 you can live right on the fing sand in Ocean Beach or Pacific Beach. If you go for OB, make sure you are SOUTH of Newport. Trust me. North of it is garbage land.

Living in the city itself seems ridiculous. If you aren't taking advantage of the beach in SD then you really are wasting the opportunity.

EDIT: commute to the school can't be more than 15 minutes max from OB.

I have a friend who goes to Thomas Jefferson. He lives in mission valley, it's a pretty prime location to live at, when attending USD or Thomas Jefferson.

I would much rather drive 20 minutes to get to school everyday and return each afternoon to a beach community than to live in mission valley where the only entertainment is the mall.

Again: if you are living in san diego and are not living next to the beach, you are making a huge mistake. Especially since rent for a 1 bedroom apartment 1 block from the ocean is so cheap. It is pretty sweet to get home from work/school and go for a swim before dinner.

Also, people that live away from the beach tend to have a difficult time getting there.

Cheap rent by the beach? WTF is this place cause then ill move out of my apartment right now and move 15 mins away from where I live now. Beach is good if you can afford it and dont mind the traffic that accumulates there on a weekday. Mission Valley is just as pricey as the beach without the view, but it is a prime location for everything needed. One thing in mind is that there is no real such things cheap rent in San Diego when you live in the hotspots, i.e downtown, the beach, The valleys.

I currently live in Del Mar...had to take my lsat at TJLS and its not a bad drive...15-20 minutes tops and I live .5 mile from the beach....del mar can be pricey hwoever, you have to check around

clairemont? I wouldnt live there...higher crime, bars on windows, close to bay, pain in the ass to get to beach however....I wouldnt live there.

Yea Clairmont is like white trash. The Valley is a shitheap? WTF valley are you talking about El Cajon Valley? Only bad thing about Fashion and Mission is everyone wants to live there and rent has skyrocketed and it is so crowded, traffic big time

Yea I was just at Coffee Bean last night in Mission wondering and wishing I was a lawyer and could afford to live in Mission Valley by myself lol

PB or OB: $1100/month. Walk to beach. Worth every cent.

ehh..1100 may be alittle low..id say around 12-1300 is what youd expect unless you live further from the water andshittier parts..

really though, both ob and pb can be pretty shitty for a student...no where to park your car, loud, party scene, fights, cops sirens, HELL of a drive coming up garnet or grand aves in the morning, etc.

dont get me wrong, pb is fun times on the weekend, but living there, as a law student, i think you may regret it...I almost signed a lease in pb, then reconsidered due to this very fact. Looked around, found a palce in del mar (del mar and la jolla are the two nicest places in san diego) for a very reasonable 1300 a month...everything is cleaner, safer, nicer....and its not a bad drive at all...10-15 min to tjls.

Unless rent has changed a lot.... I know for a fact that $1100 got you a decent 1 bedroom in both communities over the past few years.

OB does not have to be loud. One just needs to be South of Newport. Same thing in PB (put several blocks between yourself and Garnett).

Mission Valley is not a shitheap, but it is devoid of character. Clairemont is also relentlessly homogeneous.

I live in Hillcrest / North Park area. Hillcrest is the gay, upwardly-mobile neighborhood with fantastic ethnic restaurants, an indie theater, it's near Balboa Park, etc. North Park is not quite as far along with the gentrification--is a little grittier, but more arty/hipstery.

Nearby neighborhoods like University Heights, South Park, Mission Hills, and Banker's Hill all have nice things to offer, with slightly different personalities.

Both are just a short drive from Thomas Jefferson, and there's even a very nice back way through Old Town / Presidio area to get to school if the freeway is jammed up.

I hate the ocean lifestyle and surfer thing, and the absence of seasons... I'm an east-coaster by temperament.

what are the closest districts to TJSL?

i'm from Long Beach, and don't wanna waste $100 in gas (i drive a truck) to go look at places...I'd rather craigslist my butt off first.

I went to their admitted students day event this past Saturday. They will be opening a building downtown in East Village where their new law school facilities are being constructed for January 2011.
