Re: Michigan Class of 2017
I didn't deposit at both schools, but I was able to use my offer from Cornell, among others, to negotiate with Michigan. When I asked if they could increase their offer, they told me that they will review applicants only once after the initial determination, so I should only try to get increased aid if I was sure I had gotten all the scholarship offers I was going to get. Once I emailed them all of my offers, they literally took less than a day to re-evaluate and increase my award.

Re: Michigan Class of 2017
I think that at a certain point (like 75k) Michigan no longer negotiates, at least thats what my award letter said.bayareabruin wrote:Hey I don't know if anyone is trying to pursue a similar strategy, but I deposited at Cornell and Michigan and tried to use a 150k offer from Cornell to get Michigan to up their initial 75k offer--Michigan responded with, what seemed like, a form response saying they don't negotiate (without really addressing any of my particulars).
So, long story short, I don't know if this was just me, but it seems like they're sticking to not negotiating up from an initial offer. Anyway, I'm still considering coming to AA, but I thought I would mention this! Best of luck to everyone who decided on UoM!

For summer starters: does anyone know when we need to order textbooks, get our class schedules, pay tuition, etc.?

For summer starters, when is everyone getting to Ann Arbor? I'll be there about a week before orientation if anyone is around and wants to meet up!

Re: Michigan Class of 2017
Yes it is, one of the forms on wolverine access has a link to it. Its some kind of financial award summary form with links to other helpful information. I wish i had the exact name of the form for you but I can't remember my password to get onto wolverine access at the moment haha. If you cant find it maybe someone else can post a link to it, otherwise I will once I get back in. If my excel budget document is correctly updated, I have $51,395 for in state tuition.jk148706 wrote:What is tuition for the 2014-2015 year? Is it posted anywhere?

FYI for anyone buying student football tickets this morning. The seating group password for law students that Dean Z emailed out didn't work for me. However, if you enter it with the password in ALL caps instead of lowercase it will work. Hopefully this saves someone a minute of frustration.

Checking in and seeking advice from Ann Arborites about men's winter clothing, especially boots and jackets. Wool or Gore-Tex, for instance? Half-ankle or full boot? Are there good places to shop for these items in AA, or should I plan a trip to Detriot?
I'm in the LC and plan to use the gym at Ross, so I don't anticipate any outrageous treks during 1L, but cold is cold!

You've got a long ass time until you need the winter clothing. I get by with sneakers, but I'm used to winter. A good jacket is a good thing to have, but frankly, especially living in the lawyers club, a sweatshirt combined with a softshell is actually sufficient. Long underwear and wool socks are underrated. But there are places to buy shit in Ann Arbor, and you've got quite a while.
