I'll be there. I am trying to figure out which casino to stay in. Anybody want to split the costs?

I'll probably be there, unless I decide on U of A before then. That's doubtful, as i'm kinda looking forward to getting out of Arizona, but my wife also has a say in the matter. I'll be getting there thursday night, and hopefully sitting in on a class on friday.
To the person above asking about hotels, el cortez downtown has cheap rooms. I think hotels.com had them for less than 100 bucks total for 3 nights. Its not in the middle of all the downtown madness, which is nice, but its close enough to walk to if that's your thing. Never been inside the rooms, but the casino has a quaint old las vegas feel. I might be staying there, or I might be crashing on a friends couch. If anyone wants to split the cost, PM me your info including the nights you'll be staying and maybe we can work something out.
Anyone down for some beers after the admit events? There's a small bar called vanguard on fremont street that's decent, and full of public defenders buying me drinks last time i was there. Next door to it is InsertCoins which is a bar/nightclub/arcade for those of you into video games. I'll probably be spending my evenings there, and then leaving before the club crowd shows up. Can't club music.

the Stratosphere is currently having a deal for $65 a night that weekend.

Not a big fan of the stratosphere. Definitely nicer than any of the hotels downtown, but it's at the far end of the strip, so its a hike if you want to go anywhere else. If you want to stay on the strip, imperial palace is usually the best deal. Cheap rooms. Shit casino, but its dead center of the strip. If I wasn't getting the third night free at El Cortez, i'd probably stay there.

I am renting a car, so it doesn't matter. But next time I will look into Imperial Palace and El Cortez.

Did your scholarship notification come with admissions packet? I got an admission email this week but no packet yet and their website says you get passed to a committee after admission for scholarships.
UNLV is probably where I'll end up with a scholarship because it's close to home, I love Vegas, and my husband is dying to live there.

Scholarship info should be in the packet, at least it was for me and the others i've talked to. Took about a week after the email to get the packet.

I got the acceptance and scholarship in November I believe. I think the packet comes a week later. Are you coming to ASD in March?

Boyd is definitely on my very short list and I will be there on the 3rd to get a lay of the land.

Sat in on a class today, was pretty cool. I must say i was surprised how nice the campus was. I think las vegas, and I think dirty. Campus was clean, nice open layout, and the law school building was very nice. I like how despite its proximity to the strip, from the middle of campus you'd never even know you were in las vegas. Looking forward to tomorrow, but i already have a feeling i'll be ending up here.

I take it that we meet up in the (for the ASD) either in front of the Boyd building or just inside the Boyd building?

I thought the main part of the campus was clean but the sports facilities and outskirts of the campus were pretty dirty. Did you like ASD?

Did it shock you how many students had full scholarships?

It definitely seemed like they were trying to sell the school as much as they could, which was expected. The professors I met were extremely enthusiastic about the school. I spend a lot of time talking with the professor in charge of clinics, and I think the access the school has to real world experience is what impressed me most. I didn't spend too much time checking out the rest of the campus, but walked around boyd for a bit. As that is where i'll be spending my time, don't care too much about the rest. The neighborhoods around campus seem pretty shitty. Despite the long commute, I think i'll end up living in Henderson. Super nice place, and far enough away from the strip to make it almost seem like you're not in Vegas.
As for the scholarships, how many did you meet with full rides? I have a feeling the competition to keep scholarships will start out pretty strong, but people will stop caring as much as the semester progresses. In the class I attended, 90% of the students spent the majority of the period on facebook, reddit, etc..., but they also mentioned that the class was exceptionally boring compared to the others.
EDIT
Just got an email about scholarship renewal that was nice to see. If you end up below the top third, but still in the top half, your scholarship will renew for half the amount. Takes some of the pressure off.

The three 1L students I talked to were all on full scholarships and I talked to around 10 prospective students who were offered full scholarship. In my tour group, one of the full rides brought their parents and he was determined to make sure his daughter got to keep her full scholarship. It was humerous.
I too drove through the student housing around the outside of the University. I saw quite a few people in dumpsters. Even kids collecting cans and bottles. Just watching them made me want to get a Hepatitus vaccine shot.
I got the email about scholarship renewal too. The student tour guides had said that there was a rumor that this would happen. It was good to see.
Would you say there were about 70 students at the ASD?

I assumed most of the people there would be on a scholarship. Boyd said that most students won't be notified of their decision until April. I figured it was just the locks (scholarships) that would be at this one.

Got the same email and it made me breathe a bit better. Just wondering if anybody thought that at this point it would be bush league to try and negotiate the stips further?

I don't think it is bush league. They did tell us though that they won't negotiate scholarships. I figured the worst thing they could do is tell me no. I have acceptances to a lot better schools but nobody is throwing the kind of money at me that they are.

In with a full ride scholarship. Most likely will be attending, who can say no to that amount of money. Also I loved the school when I visited in Oct for open house.
