I just said screw it and threw my app into hughes its only like 7k for 9 months and its right next to the law school. I hate the cold as well and i like to wake up right before class.
Just did the same. Can't stomach the housing available in the collegetown area honestly, for the prices offered. Hoping to live in downtown or commons area for 2L/3L years (if I make it that far and don't jump off the bridge first lol j/k)
plus, with hughes we skip the nightmare of trying to find a summer subletter. i'm sure we'll be happy to not have that worry as we're ending the spring semester and preparing for our 1L summer gig.
This. I'm just worried it's gonna be full or something.

hey horrorbusiness I know you threw your app in a lot earlier than the rest of us for hughes did you hear anything back? Also I heard from my tour guide that everyone that wants hughes for the most part got it.

nope, not yet. they said that most of the assignments should be out by 4/20 too.

Hey everyone...check craigslist. While I was up for ASW I visited several places near the law school that were posted on Cornell's off campus housing site...they were just short of being crack houses...and they were wanting $1400 a month ( 2 bedroom). I was freaking out when I took to craigslist. I found a decent looking one bedroom near the commons and got in contact with the poster. Turns out the poster actually works at the law school and leases apartments for a landlord in a 5 story, elevator building near the commons. She mentioned that she had a 2 bedroom available as well if I was interested ( I wanted extra space for a study). The place was great! Wood floors, clean, full kitchen, super spacious, wrap around balcony....Now I am paying aroun $1300, but it is a two bedroom. If two split...it would be more liek $750. I'm not interested in a roomate for 1L, just trying to say...DON"T GIVE UP and check out craigslist!

definitely check craigslist. i live within a ten minute walk of the school, for a big one bedroom, pay less than a grand and got an 8 month lease. Its definitely not impossible. I also got the place in like July. Maybe LL was desperate or maybe that is the standard, not sure but its definitely possible.

Thought I'd pitch this now: Selling my books used, but with a systematic highlighting for which I will provide the key- make's briefing a breeze/ unnecessary. (my lawyering books are all unused).

I did well enough that you can trust my highlighting is, to say the least, not useless.

I finally got mine last week, although I am kind of disappointed with the offer, but whatever. I wanted to say that I sent Cornell another e-mail last week just kind of asking what's up with financial aid and telling them I have deadlines at other law schools, then they e-mailed me the next day with my offer. So those still waiting might want to try sending an e-mail.

Btw has anyone.successfully negotiated an increase with them yet? Just wondering because I sent them my other offer last week and havent heard back. With a bunch of people still waiting for initial offers I wonder when they'll get to the negotiations
