She might just not be interested in dating right now, not interested in dating fellow students, etc. You couldn't have predicted those factors before going for it, but you probably could've predicted the rejection in the situation where you were aiming way out of your league.

oh so this wasnt a straight up rejection, but after an interview and callback? im guessing no pre-job perks where the firm tries to woo you. sry about the rejection then, in this tough economy, firms are really cutting back on offers to just try and get those top prospects, tho imo your numbers (8ish) sound pretty good for this particular firm

in these early interviewing stages, you should really try to get as many callbacks and interviews as you can so you can at least get 1 offer, if you badly want biglaw right now
