Maybe NYU will offer something more significant that will draw a bit more out of CLS...

Just got the FinAid offer from CLS in the mail... $25k over the course of 3 years. *sigh* I know I shouldn't complain because it's something but I was really hoping for something a bit more substantial than THAT. Perhaps they meant to say $25k/year.

Yeah, I still haven't gotten my NYU offer when everyone else is talking about deadlines! geezmiamiman09 wrote:Just got the FinAid offer from CLS in the mail... $25k over the course of 3 years. *sigh* I know I shouldn't complain because it's something but I was really hoping for something a bit more substantial than THAT. Why does Columbia keep losing the Dean's Cup game? How do you get on the team for that? I would like to play.
note: still haven't withdrawn nyu app and haven't deposited at cls, but likely will soon.

I'll get on that Dean's Cup action too, if it's doable...depends on how intense it is, looks like a relatively big deal

Looked it up. Seems pretty intense. There are two tryouts and then practice twice a week from feb till the game in mid april. http://blogs.law.columbia.edu/newsyouca ... p-tryouts/mel2010 wrote:I'll get on that Dean's Cup action too, if it's doable...depends on how intense it is, looks like a relatively big deal
I wonder if I would have to do it on top of 1L stuff...

So I'm definitely attending Columbia but I don't know why I'm so scared to put down the deposit...

WoooOOOooooOO! Count me in! I had a great time at yesterday's events, and not only am I certain now that it's Columbia for me, but I feel substantially more excited about approaching school this fall. They even have a housing arrangement for me and my little dog (if you met me yesterday I more than likely talked about my dog...) The choice now is clear.

What classes did you guys sit in on? I went to Burnett's Con Law late in the day and I think I was one of only a half dozen or so admitted students in the room.

I chose Securities with Merrit Fox, partly because I wanted to pick a class that I thought few other admitted students would pick. I only noticed one other admit there.redsoxfan2495 wrote:What classes did you guys sit in on? Also, did you guys notice the kid who laughed obnoxiously at all of her jokes during the presentation on US territories? I was seated close to him and he was carrying a pocket Constitution.
I saw the pocket constitution guy. He was not me - I was over in the right wing of seats and was pretty tired of him by the end of the session. At least ask a question or two if you're so obviously enjoying the material.

Does anyone know about Lenfest Hall? I don't mind the price but does anyone know if it's hard to get for a 1L student? I just figured since most would have an issue with the relatively high price that it might not be as coveted as other housing arrangements.

I don't think it should be that difficult.shannigans wrote:Does anyone know about Lenfest Hall? I don't mind the price but does anyone know if it's hard to get for a 1L student? Question for others who have deposited: how long was the turnout from depositing to getting some kind of confirmation, and info about creating an e-mail address/etc? I deposited yesterday, wondering when I can expect to hear some news to make it feel more official.

I didn't get any confirmation e-mail or anything, BUT after a few days, when you are in the system, if you go to http://uni.columbia.edu/, you can do a name search for yourself and create a Columbia e-mail account. Then, you'll be able to find yourself in the Columbia directory--go to http://www.columbia.edu, and do a search for your name in the search bar at the top of the page, and you will come up as a law student!

As a once and future Columbia student, +1 this. Get used to researching and handling things on your own.camelcrema wrote:I didn't get any confirmation e-mail or anything, BUT after a few days, when you are in the system, if you go to http://uni.columbia.edu/, you can do a name search for yourself and create a Columbia e-mail account.
