Skadden (WIL) vs. Dechert (PHI)

Post by Anonymous User » Tue Jan 20, 2026 8:45 pm

1L deciding between Skadden's Wilmington office and Dechert's Philadelphia office for a 2L SA position. Goal is corporate transactional work, and I plan to stay in the Philly/Wilmington region long-term.

A few specific questions:

How do the two offices compare in terms of deal flow and the type of transactional work associates get?

For those familiar with either office, what's the culture like?

TIA!

Skadden Wilmington is 30 something lawyers and more than half are litigators. There are three corporate partners. Dechert has 40 something corporate lawyers in their Philly office. Dechert is going to have more matters originating out of it's Philly office, Skadden is going to be more supporting matters originating in other offices.
