Our CSO's office swears that Judges are actually the exception to being able to ask for time to decide--they say if you accept an interview you are basically expected to accept any offer immediately, otherwise it would be seen as an insult.

I think you can still ask when they need an answer by (if they haven't made it clear they're expecting an answer). If they say "I was really expecting an answer today" then you'd better answer. But I have actually found judges to be perfectly reasonable about this, despite what CSOs say.

I got more interviews (per month) after I passed and was able to put that on my resume. So yeah, don't give up just yet.

Thanks man. I've heard of 2014 grads not getting full-time offers until late October and into early November--i.e. after they passed the bar. But that's still quite frightening. Here's to some hope.

Just got back from an interview for a legal (non-licensed) position. Pay was decent for the region and responsibilities ($60k). However, I feel like they were a little condescending. They questioned why I wasn't practicing law. Like I've decided to forgo a trip to the magic job tree that is thriving in lawland down by the river of hopes, dreams, and optimism. Then I said I was interested in the position because it's related to X and Y and I'm really looking for a job that I'll love whether it's practicing law or not. The response was "Well, you'll mostly just be doing Z (like it was picking up roadkill)." I was genuinely interested in the position but the vibe they gave off was like: "Why are you here?" It sucks because some interviews I've been on have focused on the fact that I might not have enough experience (3-5 years) and I'm apparently overqualified for most of the jobs that are a step below.

Ugh just gotta vent quickly. I've been trying to reach out to alumni from my law school that have similar backgrounds and do the work I'm interested in and they are all as COLD as fck. So much for that alumni camaraderie. I've reached out to practicing attys before and I've never gotten such a strong "we went to the same school, so what?" vibe.
