Living space going to be? If living alone how big is your place of residence going to be? I plan on living closer to the school so I defined study area wont be as necessary I imagine but I am hesitant to place a work area in by bedroom or living area. I am deciding between a really nice one bedroom and a decent two bedroom. Anyone hear how necessary it is to have an "office" at home?

...We're law students. Separating your play area from your work area is great in theory, but I for one can't afford to rent a whole extra bedroom! I managed just fine through undergrad doing everything in one tiny dorm room, so I am sure law school will be fine in a shared 2 bedroom. Plus, you could always hang out in the law school library and just not go home till you're done working for the day.
Go with the 1 bedroom.

Not enticing enough apparently! Anyone have any insight into this? Anyone given you advice on the matter?

you can afford a 2 bedroom, to make one bedroom an office... while still maintaining a less practical, you know, living room?

750 square feet, on the second floor of a turn of the century brownstone. It's a two bedroom, but I don't get both of them. I'm not a freaking heiress. Six blocks from school FTW.
I move on Tuesday. I'm really excited, and really really broke.

Until my lease starts, I'll be living in the beautiful and historic Belvedere Castle. It's quite convenient to Lincoln Center, and has an unusually large garden for a Manhattan dwelling.

sorry, let me translate.
how big is your......
wallet?
i think most other people trying to seperate their workspace from bed would just set up their desk in the living room/main area of their apt/studio. if you are going to be a law student with a living room (you said 1 bedroom, so i'm assuming you're not talking studio here), and a bedroom, and can on top of that afford a second bedroom to just be an office as you mentioned, you're going to be living in one of the more lavish law student set-ups. most of us are pretty poor and can hardly afford a bedroom to ourselves
anyways, on related note, there are some posts here from long ago about creating the ideal workspace. do a search, or perhaps someone else can provide the link.
