I did. But then I realized it really isn't that close. I am looking for something a bit closer and using it as a last resort.

to get a copy of your voter registration card, call the office on this list for your county and confirm that you're registered. then ask them how to get a copy. they'll probably tell you to write a letter to the register recorder at their address and send a check for $1.50

What about the proof that we voted in recent elections?

I didn't realize we needed that! Seems sort of impossible to me. The other annoying part is where you have to list your job for the past 6 years which is a ridiculously long time. I've worked about 10 jobs in 6 years and they give you 3 crappy little lines.

It's not impossible. I talked to the Alameda Co. people...they said they can give a printout of your voting history.

I have to travel to the Alameda Superior Court to get all of these documents though

Closure huh? haha.. I heard back from Hastings today and I did apply through LEOP.. my stats are 160 3.52.. end result.. REJECTION. hope everyone else has better luck.. but even tho I only heard today the letter was dated April 29..

Upon further inspection, it looks like you only need to include proof that you voted in recent elections to prove your intent to change CA to your permanent residence, having previously lived in a different state. Correct? Since I've lived in CA my whole life, do you guys think I still need to do it?

No. Have you, or has anyone else here, seen the units? I'm thinking about it. While it is far the area has great weather and the T underground line goes straight to campus. I'm also thinking about the tower, I was offered a spot on the 9th floor. Anyone else here get living in the Tower next year? I haven't decided for sure yet but they want my money in another week.

i applied for housing at ucsf. it's non-binding so you may as well. they will tell you 6-8 weeks before your selected move-in date what is available. i'll go check it out then. in the meantime, why not get on the list?

No I haven't seen it either. Just the few pictures on their website. I lagged with the tower $300 deposit and at this point I don't think there's anything left. UCSF seems like a decent option even though it may be a bit far.

As far as I can see there's not much of a difference between them. From what I understood at ASD, it's best to make sure there is
a) no prepayment penalty
b) interest reduction w/ direct deposit.

And just in case you thought that would make the decision easier, I'm pretty sure all the lenders they designated fit those requirements.

I chose one that was a non-profit for no other reason than that I figured if I was going to dig myself this far into debt, the massive interest payments should at least not go to some huge corporation.

I also checked out all of their websites and looked at how helpful I thought they were. In addition, I called some of the lenders (once I narrowed it down to three) to see what I thought of their customer service people. Also, I looked at their bar loans and what kind of terms those had so that when I got to that point I could just use the same lender. Finally, I googled the lenders to see what people had to say about them

Has anyone been looking at Independent Health Insurance (or know anything about it other than that you can really screw yourself over if you do things wrong)? I need health insurance to cover two people, and the Hastings plan looks REALLY expensive. Any tips/pointers/advice/warnings would be helpful. (Unless you are going to tell me that independent health insurance will ruin my life, because my mother already let me in on that secret.)

got the email, but i'm not going. to be honest, i'm not too interested in going to these kinds of events until i actually start school. a smarter person would probably say it's never too early to start networking, though.
