How is Michigan ranked ahead of UVA when UVA's medians are both above Michigan?

Are all the other factors equal? I mean, numbers aren't the only criterion here. If their "employment rates", bar passage rates, peer assessments, etc. were all equal, then you're right, and that wouldn't make sense. But if Michigan eclipses UVA in those other categories (I'm not saying they do, I have absolutely no idea) then UVA could still have higher medians and be ranked lower.

Median LSAT is 12.5% of the overall score and GPA is 10%, compared to academic reputation (25%), reputation among lawyers and judges (15%), employment 9 months after graduation (12%), and a bunch of other stuff.

Also, Michigan beat UVA by 1 point (and was beaten by Penn by 1 point), so it's not like they are worlds apart according to the rankings. Thus why the T14 are often broken down into groups like MVP (or BMVP, but that seems more rare). They really are peer schools.

Personally, I don't think the rankings will change significantly, though I suppose the economy could shake things up a bit? Georgetown could finally be supplanted, but I doubt it.

Or, I mean... Michigan's flying to no. 1!

they're all still great schools but why would you go to uchicago over nyu if you wanted to be in NY or vice versa.

No, every T10 school can place you anywhere in the country. The Top 3 are just better at it.

i wasn't clear.. what i mean to say is, assuming UChicago and NYU are peer schools, why would you move out of your target market to attend either one (assuming your target market is chicago or ny).

Duke and Michigan definitely throw this theory out of the window since they don't really have their own markets, but I don't see the advantage of Northwestern (higher rank) than GULC if DC is your goal.
