For several of the schools I am applying for they specifically say to include traffic violations in their C&F sections. Does this look okay as an addendum to cover two speeding tickets? (This is a first draft, have not read through for grammatical/spelling errors yet)


In July 2014, the summer before my junior year of high school, I was received a speeding ticket for going 10-15 mph over the posted speed limit. This speeding ticket was received in the state of Kentucky. I attended online traffic school in substitute of payment for this traffic violation. During my fall 2016 semester of college I was received a speeding ticket for going 5-10 mph over the posted speed limit. This speeding ticket was received in the State of Oklahoma. I promptly paid the $200 dollar fine for the speeding ticket online through the Oklahoma City Police Department. Since receiving my second speeding ticket I have made sure to always follow posted speed limits and to be aware of sudden speed limit changes. I have not been cited or charged with traffic violations of any other kind.

Any advice or critique is welcomed!

I think it looks fine. I didn't even explain my speeding tickets because Im not sure they are a huge deal. Everyone speeds and most people get caught. As long as you disclose it you're fine and this explanation doesn't hurt.

Trim it and keep up the grammar. No reason to state you always follow the speed limit now because that sounds disingenuous. Just state you haven't been pulled over for speeding since.

I'm not even sure I would state that, since it reads a bit like "haven't been caught since."

I'd just list the two offences:

• July 2014 (City, State) - Speeding 5-10mph over limit - attended traffic school
• Fall 2016 (City, State) - speeding 5-10mph over limit - $200 penalty.
  • Does this include costs? If so, you might have been fined a much lower amount.
  • I'd look up the actual month and include it, rather than a season.

I think laying it out like that makes it clear you've not had any incidents in the intervening three years.
