Law schools practicing income-based affirmative action?

So I noticed a few schools asking about parents income and socio-economic circumstance. I am not from an economically disadvantaged background, but I think the idea of socio-economic affirmative action is great. Anyone know if schools are actually using this information for admissions/diversity purposes or is it just for research/administrative purposes?
