YLS and HLS - Vibes on Campus
For those of you who have attended or are attending YLS or HLS: I know the pros and cons of each of these schools on paper, but without being able to visit and compare the feeling on each campus, it's hard to make out which would actually be a better "fit". Generally speaking, I am hoping to join a community where I can eek out some enjoyment. I would love to be surrounded by people who are supportive and collaborative, rather than competitive, and who try to maintain some type of work-life balance. While I'm sure both schools have a range of more intense to more relaxed people, does what I've described above ring true for you and your experience? Thank you in advance!

If you want collaborative over competitive, Yale is the easy answer (beyond being the easy answer for every other reason). It's the most prestigious law school with an insanely small class, so you get to know people well and everyone knows that they'll have fantastic outcomes. You can land any competitive position easier than you could at any other law school, so there is less pressure to compete. Yale also has a reputation for being more of a nerdy/academic school where people care about their studies/the actual content matter instead of just what grade thy get at the end.
